~Fatal life lessons~

The sky turned darker and I froze in time. I tried to gasp but to no avail, for the shock was too much. The future became present as I fell to my knees. I stared up at you, grimacing with pain as I watched my blood drip down the cold steel that was your sword. You laughed menacingly and the smell of blood finally hit me. You flicked your weapon in an attempt to rid it of my plasma. Your smile faded to a frown and you simply stared at me with a look of sheer hatred. I choked on my tongue and tried to breathe in sharp spasms.

I was scared. Awfully scared. However I did not show it for my pride was all I had left. My strength was failing me. There was nothing more I could do. My magic and energy was completely drained and my left shoulder was heavily damaged. I couldn't take it anymore. I began to black in and out of consciousness. Finally I collapsed on my side. I heard your footsteps as you patiently paced towards me, the sword you wield dragging at your soles. I willed myself to look up at you. My eyes welled with tears as I saw the blank, heartless expression you had.

Why have you betrayed us? What would you gain from destruction? Nonetheless, as I lay there bleeding, you calmly raise your weapon behind your head. Time slowed again, I held my breath and squeezed my eyes shut. I closed my right hand into a fist, making my own nails dig into the palm of my hand, causing it to drip crimson. I awaited the blow. I was prepared for it. You already killed the others! Finish me! As I gradually opened my eyes, I saw you a couple yards away. You walked away from the me and the carnage you made. I was too weak to call out for you. Your silhouette disappeared into the forest and I was left alone.

I managed to get to my knees. The smell of blood was intense, but the scent of my allies' corpses was much stronger. I peered to my left and right. Three bodies of my best friends covered in their own fluids. I felt sick. Nauseated. I was truly disgusted. But I also felt hopeless. I knew I was dying. My blood kept pumping out of my shoulder in a steady but slow rhythm. I leaned back and fell to the ground, face up. I weakly stared at the gloomy sky, my tears staining my cheeks. You let me live because you knew I'd die from blood loss.

How could you? Weren't we a team? I never thought you would betray us the way you did. I never judged you by your deceitful demeanor or your way of living. I appreciated your company and service. What did you gain by murdering us? Was I foolish to trust those around me? Perhaps… But I swear to you that you will fall. Crushed by your selfish desires. I have no need for revenge because karma shall swallow you whole.

Darkness greeted me. My body started to feel heavy and my vision became blurry. It was my time. In my next life, I swear to become a wiser person. I promise to be stronger. And I vow to protect those who are precious to me from others, even if they were once my companions… my dear friends.
I've had a lot of friends in the past who have done this to me. (Not literally) Every friend I've ever had betrayed me or stabbed me in the back. (Not my awesomer new ones though. xD) This is how I felt, from what I can remember. The dead bodies of the three 'friends' represent other people like me who deserve REAL friends but have also been stabbed in the back. Most likely by the same person. I now follow the 'life lesson' at the end of the story. It works great and helps the people around me too.

I hope this story speaks a lot to you. I honestly just got the inspiration to write this for some reason. ^.^''
